Luke McConnell
Luke McConnell has spent his entire career fighting for clients and their rights. He represents people at all phases of the criminal process, from pre-filing investigations, through trial, and post-conviction. Luke also represents people who have been injured and fights for those whose civil rights have been violated.
Luke McConnell began his career in 2008 at the Colorado State Public Defender, with the Adams County office in Brighton, one of the busiest metro offices. Luke was a public defender for over five years, where he worked daily on the front lines of his client’s, and all citizen’s, constitutional rights. While working for the public defender, Luke was exposed to an extreme variety of people, cases, and situations. It is this experience that provides the foundation for Luke’s current representation of clients.
In 2014, Luke left the public defender’s office and entered private practice to pursue additional practice areas so that he could help people in more diverse ways. In the years since, Luke has continued to represent the accused, but has also applied the same tenacity and litigation experience to civil rights litigation and personal injury litigation. The focus is the same: representing individuals against powerful institutions, governments, and entities. Luke also represents people charges with crimes in Federal Court.
Luke’s focus is on providing honest, compassionate, and comprehensive advocacy on behalf of clients. No two situations are entirely the same, and Luke approaches each case with the goal of formulating a comprehensive strategy that meets the client’s unique needs. With 90 jury trials under his belt, Luke is highly qualified when a case goes to trial, and Luke possesses a passion for the art of the jury trial. Luke has had the privilege of sharing his passion for jury trials by teaching students at CU Boulder and to his newly admitted colleagues.
In 2018, Luke joined forces with his esteemed colleagues Marshall Breit and Patrick Mulligan to form a new partnership focused on fighting for clients. Luke was thrilled to be back working closely with Marshall, who he worked with at the public defender at the start of their careers. It is also an honor to work so closely with Patrick Mulligan, who has been fighting for clients in Colorado for over 30 years, and is one of the most respected and experienced criminal defense attorneys in the state. All three partners have been recognized by Super Lawyers as well as other accrediting bodies.
Outside of work, Luke pursues many interests. These include biking, running, hiking, skiing, climbing, cooking, reading, music, home projects, and spending time with friends.
